Die größte Stadt des Landes und Tansanias Regierungssitz ist Dar es Salaam, wo auch die meisten unserer Freiwilligendienste angesiedelt sind. Übersetzt heißt der Name „Haus des Friedens“. Die Stadt zeigt sich als aufstrebende, quirlige und traditionsreiche Metropole. Hier kannst Du wie überall in Tansania während Deines Freiwilligendienstes das facettenreiche, einheimische Essen kennen lernen: Gerichte mit Reis, Kohl, Pilau (gewürzter Reis), Ndizi (Bananen), Erbsen, Fisch und vor allem Ugali (Getreidebrei aus Maismehl), den man zum Aufnehmen der anderen Speisen mit den Händen als eine Art Löffel benutzt. Es gibt also während Deiner Freiwilligenarbeit viel zu entdecken! Wir arbeiten vor Ort mit unserem tansanischen Partner „United Planet Tanzania“ zusammen, der Dich sofort bei Deiner Ankunft in Dar es Salaam willkommen heißt und Dich während Deiner Freiwilligenarbeit intensiv betreut. So bekommst Du auch ein tansanisches Handy geliehen, damit Du jederzeit erreichbar bist und mit Deinem Projekt, Deinen Betreuerinnen und Betreuern und den anderen Freiwilligen kommunizieren kannst.

Die meisten Projekte liegen in Dar es Salaam im Osten des Landes, Du kannst Dich aber auch für ein Projekt in Ilula im Landesinneren, in der Nähe der Stadt Iringa, oder in Morogoro, drei Stünden westlich von Dar in den Bergen gelegen, entscheiden. Deine Freiwilligenarbeit kannst Du Dir unter folgenden Projekten auswählen:

  • Unterrichten in der Grundschule "Grace School" (Dar es Salaam)
  • Unterstützung und Unterrichten in einer Berufsschule (Dar es Salaam): "Ezra Project"
  • Betreuung und Unterstützung von Waisenkindern und Kindern aus benachteiligten Verhältnissen (Dar es Salaam): "Watoto Wetu"
  • Arbeit im Children´s Cancer Center (Dar es Salaam): Muhimbili National Hospital und Children´s Ward
  • Arbeit im Gemeindezentrum (Dar es Salaam): "Kigamboni Community Center"
  • Hilfe und Betreuung im Waisen- und Kinderheim (Ilula, Iringa): "Ilula Orphanage Program (IOP)"
  • Mitarbeit und Betreuung in einer Einrichtung für Menschen mit Behinderung (Morogoro): "Mehayo Center"

Voraussetzungen:

Als Voraussetzung für die Freiwilligenarbeit in Tansania solltest Du gute Englischkenntnisse, Flexibilität, Bereitschaft sich auf die regionalen Gegebenheiten einzulassen und natürlich vor allem Motivation und Kreativität mitbringen. Vorkenntnisse in Swahili sind nicht zwingend notwendig, da in den Projekten Englisch gesprochen werden soll oder ein Übersetzer aushilft. Das Mindestalter beträgt 18 Jahre.

Visum:

Für Deinen Freiwilligendienst brauchst Du ein Visum, welches vorab beim tamsanischen Konsulat in Berlin persönlich oder schriftlich beantragt werden muss. Die Kosten dafür liegen zwischen 50€ und 70€ (bei bis zu acht Wochen) und ca. 400 € (über acht Wochen) und müssen von Dir selber getragen werden, wir helfen aber gerne bei der Visumsbeantragung.

Starttermine:

Der Einstieg in die Freiwilligenarbeit in Tansania kann jeweils zum ersten oder dritten Donnerstag eines Monats erfolgen.
