Sonntagsbraten, Eintöpfe, Schnitzel und Kohlgerichte, so is(s)t man heute vielfältig und multinational. Italienische, Türkische, Asiatische und Griechische Essgewohnheiten haben sich in Deutschen Küchen etabliert und die unterschiedlichsten Restaurants bieten viele Abwechslungsmöglichkeiten.
Natürlich sind die deutschen Essgewohnheiten dennoch auch regional gefärbt. So isst man im Norden wesentlich mehr Fisch, während im Süden traditionell viele deftige Speisen angeboten werden.
Regionen unabhängig ist sicherlich das beliebte deutsche Brot und das damit zusammenhängende Abendbrot. Es gibt kein anderes Land weltweit, in dem so viel Brot gebacken und konsumiert wird. So wird oft zum Frühstück, Mittag- oder Abendessen Brot in den verschiedensten Varianten bestrichen, belegt und gegessen. Für viele ausländische Schüler ist dies recht gewöhnungsbedürftig, die meisten kommen jedoch auf den Geschmack.
